Famous SAS
People!
Well its been a few minutes since Magic has been over, but I thought I
would let all of you that couldn't make it down there get a little taste
of what Famous SAS is like at one of these shows.
One word ? Nuts!
Being down there allowed me to really do about 3 months of email in 3
days, for real. Each one of these accounts was super psyched to finally
have some progress from the USA on dealing with the Canadian Market.
Its been a long road to get where we are now with Famous, but its never
been more worth it. Famous is going crazy in the USA. I made it a point
to walk around the show and find a booth with more people, more
media, more stars, more diamonds, more autographs, and more
appointments, and I wasn't able to find anything.
Just take a look at the photos below. Below is a photo of the booth at a
dull point. No Joke, that?s the only way I could get away from it and and
take a photo.
On the right in the red hat is music superstar Travis Barker and on the
left is Southside Rapper ?Young Dro? being interviewed and video taped.
Look at that chain on Young Dro........its the size of a small record, its all
real platinum and diamonds, and its rumored to be worth around.....
well with all the security that he had following him everywhere all

All in all it was a great productive trip. Canada?s definitely on the
Famous SAS map as far as growing sales and solid marketing direction.
We got some crazy projects coming up this spring ! We are working

athlete manager to partner with the Famous SAS athlete tour and

Duck Down Records Officially Signs KRS-ONE and DJ Revolution
Duck Down Records is continuing its expansion and doing so by adding two of the most highly respected talents in Hip-Hop to its roster of artists: THE TEACHA himself, KRS-ONE and DJ Revolution.
KRS ONE AND BUCKSHOT Team Up For New Album:
KRS ONE is a significant figure in the Hip-Hop community and is often credited by critics and other Hip-Hop artists as epitomizing the "essence" of an emcee. It is no surprise then, that KRS-ONE decided it would make the most sense to combine forces with Buckshot, of Black Moon and record a new album on Duck Down Records. Buckshot shares similar philosophies as KRS-ONE, one of which is the notion of the "Stop the Violence Movement," which KRS-ONE is actively involved with.
KRS-ONE turned to Dru Ha and Buckshot (co-owners of Duck Down Records) to bring a certain sound and production to this upcoming project, a request that Duck Down Records Co-President Dru Ha was honored to fulfill ?To say we are honored and humbled would be an understatement. Buck and I have known KRS since our early days in the game, back when we were recording at D&D Studios and he directly influenced the name of the label with his song "Duck Down? (sucka Mc's Duck). He was also instrumental in one of Buck's first and biggest records as Da Beatminerz flipped the "How Many MC's" vocal sample from KRS. But with the nostalgic feelings of KRS being one of my favorite MC's growing up to the side, it's KRS's continued relevance of today that's most exciting. KRS has a message in his lyrics, a gladiator performer who reps the culture and posses all the qualities that an MC should embody: Meaningful lyrics, mastery of the flow, intense creativity and a ferocious live show. I know how much respect Buck has for KRS, so I can only imagine how this will elevate his game. It's Old School to those that don't keep up with the current works and movements but to me, I would call it Now School.?
Three tracks have already been recorded and the chemistry between the two artists is very natural. Buckshot described the work as "CONFLOSATION, even when KRS ONE is flowing he's having a conversation with his audience. This collaboration with KRS-ONE is going to be an album full of Hip-Hop conversation, ranging from New World Order, to socially conscious topics such as unemployment, poverty, and politics. At the same time, we will speak to the streets, as that is what I'm known to do. It?s a dream to be able to work with KRS-ONE. Before I even began rapping that is who I checked for. I kept the ?Blue Print? album on me at all times. That is all I listened to for an entire summer."

DJ Revolution Preps "KING OF THE DECKS" Album
DJ Revolution has spent 15 years perfecting his craft on the 1200s. Revolution has done just about everything you can think of with records. Spun ?em, scratched ?em, juggled ?em, sampled ?em, collected ?em, produced ?em, sold ?em, distributed ?em, promoted ?em, and so on. Aside, from being the DJ, producer and editor for the world famous "Wake Up Show," based out of LA on Power 106 and Syndicated across the nation, DJ Revolution is a renowned producer with credits on albums by: KRS-ONE, Defari, Dilated Peoples, Planet Asia, Buckshot, Smif N Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, Crooked I, Slum Village, El Da Sensei and Akrobatik to name just a few. DJ Revolution is also a veteran stage show DJ who has toured with artists such as Rakim and Kanye West.

BURTON Book
It turns out that Burton never worked on this book, they were never asked to comment on it and they didn?t even know it existed until emails started circulating around the snowboard industry last week. Just like everyone else, they think this book is misleading and wish it wasn?t out there, but it is.

cosplay, gothic lolita, and other over-the-top outfits hang out on the
bridge in front of Meiji Jingu Shrine and pose for the numerous
photographers and tourists.
Mana, famed performer, fashion trend-setter and musician from Japanese visual kei band, Malice Mizer, has been a popular subject for cosplayers over the years. I have seen this particular costume more than a dozen times over the seven years that I visited Harajuku. You can even buy it from Takenoko, a cosplay/costume shop on Takeshita Dori. This young woman does carry it off rather well, I think!

My diagrams are all drawn as though looking from the front of the shoe, such that the lower part of the lacing is at the bottom of the diagram, and are colour-coded to make it easier to follow where the lace runs. Burton twisting snowboarding...

If you are unaware, check out the linked images of this Dr.
Seuss-style kid's book, available at school libraries and Amazon.com
publisher to create their skewed version of snowboard history -- for
very young kids to "learn" from in early elementary school. Probably
so that they'll be inclined to buy Burton product as they get older.
If you read this cartoon book, despite its after-the-fact footnotes,
it is clear that Burton is trying to brainwash little kids these days
that Jake invented snowboarding. They compare him to Edison,
Alexander Graham Bell and a bunch of other historic inventors. In
the footnotes, they even spell Tom Sims name wrong "Tim Sims".
The name of the book is "Jake Burton and The Snowboard".

HIP HOP LEGEND KRS-ONE TO PERFORM IN MONTREAL
Concert to be held at Le National on Monday, March 9th 2008
Legendary rapper KRS-ONE returns to Montreal for the first time in
over a decade. He will be performing at Le National on Monday,
March 9th 2008.
KRS-ONE is considered one of the pioneers of Hip Hop. In 1985,
he created the hardcore rap group Boogie Down Productions with
DJ Scott LaRock. Their debut album Criminal Minded is considered
a template for gangsta rap, with battle anthems like
?The Bridge is Over? and ?South Bronx?. After LaRock was fatally shot,
KRS-ONE continued as BDP, creating more politically and socially
conscious Hip Hop.
In 1993, he embarked on a solo career with the release of Return of the
Boom Bap, selected by The Source as one of the top 100 rap albums of
all time. Over the past two decades KRS-ONE continues to be one of the
most influential rappers in Hip Hop, releasing classics as
?Sound Of Da Police?, ?Step Into A World (Rapture's Delight)?,
and ?Cant Stop, Won't Stop?
KRS-ONE is still busy recording. He has just released his twelfth solo
album, ?Adventures in Emceeing.? He is also working on the relaunch
of his Stop The Violence Movement, which he first created with his
Boogie Down Productions crew in 1989. Over 50 artists, including
The Game, Nelly, David Banner, and Chamillionaire joined KRS-ONE
to record new audio and video for the initiative.
Accompanying KRS-ONE on stage are Montreal rappers; The Narcycist,
D-Shade and K6A. The show is hosted by legendary old school MC,
The Almighty Flight with music provided by DJ Blaster

What's Next? est un documentaire réalisé par mon bon chummy et fellow south shore skate buddy, Rich Desmarchais. PROPS!
Montreal is rich in culture and history. Like many urban cities, Montreal has found itself with an urban phenomena and sub-cultural rise of skateboarding.
Very few people know about the history of skateboarding in Montreal. The skateboarding culture rose in the early 60?s. A punk-like-skate movement rose in the rich town of Westmount, where locals would bomb hills with heavy clay wheels.
Possibly the first documentary film about skateboarding was created by the famous filmmaker Claude Jutras in 1966 (The National Film Board of Canada). The film is a portal of the early roots of skateboarding.

Riot starting, bouncer bashing, cop baiting, hotel trashing, foul talking,
noise making, chaos causing, venue wrecking, government hating, rule
breaking, piss taking, unrelenting, punk rocking. Clearly we're not
talking about Pepsi adverts here, or indeed the many so-called punk
bands that would gleefully sell themselves to such corporate giants
for a palm full of silver. Whoo-hoo! The taste of a generation! Fuck
off! Let's get one thing straight: The Exploited are not 'punkers' or
any of the other cutesy, watered down, MTV friendly names you
might want to call them.
The Exploited are punk rock.
Black Flag was a hardcore punk band formed in 1977 in southern California, largely as the brainchild of Greg Ginn: the guitarist, primary songwriter and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes. They are widely considered the first hardcore punk band.
Black Flag forged a unique sound early on that mixed the raw simplicity of the Ramones with atonal and microtonal guitar solos and frequent tempo shifts. Over this could be heard lyrics?mostly written by Ginn?about isolation, neurosis, poverty, and paranoia, themes which did not disappear when Henry Rollins took on the role of lead singer in 1981. Most of the band's material was released on Ginn's independent label, SST Records.
Black Flag were (and remain) well respected among their underground culture, with their influence primarily in their tireless promotion of a self-controlled DIY ethic and aesthetic. They're often regarded as pioneers in the movement of underground do-it-yourself record labels that flourished among the 1980s' punk rock bands. Through seemingly constant touring throughout the United States and Canada, and occasionally Europe, Black Flag established an extremely dedicated fan base. Many other musicians would follow Black Flag's lead and book their own tours, utilizing a word-of-mouth network.
Over the course of the 1980s, Black Flag's sound, as well as their notoriety, evolved in ways that alienated much of their early punk audience. As well as being central to the creation of hardcore, they were part of the first wave of American West Coast punk rock and are considered a key influence on the punk subculture. Along with being among the earliest punk rock groups to incorporate elements of heavy metal (particularly in their later records), there were often overt freestyles, jazz (mainly free jazz), breakbeat and contemporary classical elements in their sound, especially in Ginn's guitar playing, and the band interspersed records and performances with instrumentals throughout their career. They also played longer, slower, and more complex songs at a time when many bands in their milieu stuck to a raw, fast, three-chord format. As a result, Black Flag's extensive discography is more varied than many of their punk-rock contemporaries.
NEW SANDBOX TEASER
We just got back from the SIA tradeshow in Las Vegas for a week of high fives, good times and showing off the new teaser. Yes, we have the first teaser up for the next Sandbox video, ?All Day Everyday?. Many sleepless nights over the last week with some really strange blacklight sessions in the garage and once again we have an early season teaser, we hope you all enjoy it.
It was Clayton?s first time in Sin City and he definitely partied to the max, every night. We even changed his flight to stay an extra day so he could keep the party going and stay for the Snowboard Magazine after party. Clay partied so hard at the event that Snowboard Mag decided to sponsor the new video project, welcome aboard !
The tradeshow was great and we got a lot of good feedback on the teaser as well as the Sandbox ?Brain Bucket? helmets. Vegas is a fun place to visit but there ain?t no place like home and it?s good to be back in Whistler and out in the backcountry riding and shooting. The two companies began discussions over a year ago and found that they share a common approach in the way that they contribute to boardsports culture, including a commitment to creating long-lasting relationships with their teams of international athletes.
